About SALottoStats

Independent lottery statistics for South African players — free, fast, and updated after every draw.

What is SALottoStats?

SALottoStats is a free statistical analysis platform covering South Africa's national lottery games: Lotto, Lotto Plus 1, Lotto Plus 2, PowerBall, PowerBall Plus, and Daily Lotto. We collect historical draw data going back to October 2023 and update results after every draw.

The site was built because there was no single, clean, easy-to-use source of SA lottery statistics. You either had to dig through the official National Lottery website or piece together results from scattered sources. We wanted to change that.

What can I do here?

  • Check results — every draw result since October 2023, searchable and filterable by game.
  • Explore frequency statistics — see how often each number has been drawn, which are statistically “hot” or “cold”, and how that compares to the expected average.
  • Generate numbers — use our statistics-informed number generator to produce a set based on historical frequency data.
  • Calculate expected value — our EV calculator shows you the theoretical return on a ticket at different jackpot levels.
  • Read strategy guides — evidence-based strategy content that explains what statistical analysis can and cannot tell you about lottery outcomes.

Where does the data come from?

Our historical draw data is sourced from publicly available records published by the National Lotteries Commission and ITHUBA Holdings, the licensed operator of South Africa's national lottery. Results are cross-referenced against the official National Lottery website (nationallottery.co.za) to ensure accuracy.

Our dataset currently covers draws from October 2023 to present, with new results added automatically after each draw. If you spot any discrepancy in the data, please contact us.

A note on statistics and winning

We want to be clear about something important: no statistical analysis of past lottery draws can improve your probability of winning. The ITHUBA draw machines produce genuinely independent random results — each draw has no memory of what came before.

“Hot” and “cold” numbers are retrospective observations, not predictions. A number that has appeared frequently in the past is not more or less likely to appear in the next draw. We display these statistics because they are interesting and informative — not because they are predictive.

Our strategy guide explains this in detail, along with what you can optimise (like jackpot timing and reducing jackpot-split risk).
